About Us
SeeMee
My name is Kayla Ashley Brown. I am 14 years old, and attend Grade 9 in Cape Town, South Africa.
While riding in our area, I have noticed a very concerning issue, especially being near the coastal areas in the early mornings and evenings.
With the change in seasons, many horses and riders are out early or late, riding into the darkness. We ride on paths and roads that are also used by motor vehicles, cyclists, pedestrians and other riders. These roads are getting busier and the vehicles faster, all the time. There have been many occasions, where poor light has resulted in near accidents between horses and other path and road users. Accidents in our neighbourhoods have left horses dead, riders and drivers traumatised.
There are very limited options available for riders, to make themselves and their horses more visible.
And so, I’ve decided to start addressing this problem, starting by focusing on equestrian visibility gear. I have begun to develop my SeeMee Safety Gear range. It’s an equestrian range of Reflective and high visibility gear. My aim is to provide affordable, quality and practical visibility products, ensuring horses and their riders are visible to vehicles and other users.
Why We Do It?
SeeMee wants to create and offer quality high visibility gear for horses and riders, that allows
riders to be seen on public roads. Being seen by road users will ensure that horses and their riders, as well as motorists avoid accidents and injury. We want to contribute to local busines by manufacturing these quality roducts in South Africa, instead of relying on imports.
Equestrian Visibility Awareness Campaign
SeeMee is not only a product range. SeeMee is a campaign to actively raise awareness, and
encourage equestrians to ensure their safety, as well as their horses’ safety, by making themselves visible on the roads, in daylight and low light.
